Typical but may vary: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and one late night every 3 weeks on Wednesdays from 11:00am until 7:00pm. Flexibility for weekend shifts when program needs arise.

Duties

Community Justice Counsellors offer client-centered services that provide strength-based individual education, assessment and counselling to youth and adults involved in the legal system. 

As a Community Justice Counsellor, you will:

  • Complete intakes, facilitate groups and meet with clients
  • Be responsible for court coverage
  • Assist in other Community Justice programs as needed and scheduled
  • Respond to client needs by providing support counselling, information and by liaising with resources, support and referral sources.

Qualifications

  • Have a college diploma in a Human/Social Services field.
  • Have a minimum 1-year combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals involved in the justice system.
  • Have a knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
  • Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases.
  • Have access to reliable transportation.
  • Be able to manage occasional exposure to vicarious traumatic stress.
