Telecommunications Installation Technician
Ability to work varied hours Monday to Friday
Duties
- Install and configure telecommunications equipment including routers, modems, and network switches, in residential and commercial settings
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting to resolve issues with telecommunications systems
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions and connectivity problems
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining installation procedures, answering questions, and ensuring customer satisfaction with the installed systems
- Test and verify the functionality of installed systems to ensure optimal performance and adherence to technical specifications
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and service calls. Document work performed and update system configurations as needed
- Adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies during all installation and maintenance activities
- Offer on-site and remote support to address customer inquiries and technical issues, escalating complex problems to senior technicians as necessary
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in telecommunications or a related field preferred
- Proven experience as a telecommunications technician or similar role, with hands-on experience in installing and maintaining telecommunications systems
- Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment, networking, and signal processing. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and address their needs effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, work in various environmental conditions, and perform tasks that may require climbing ladders, towers, roofs or working in confined spaces
- A clean driver’s abstract is required
- A clear police check is mandatory for this role
- Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Local travel within the service area is required
