Community Justice Counsellor - SOAR Community Services
37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and one late night 2 weeks from 11:00am until 7:00pm.
May involve some weekends.
Duties
SOAR Community Services Brantford has been an established part of the community for more than 55 years, and is accredited for our excellence in serving children, youth, adults, and families.
Community Justice Counsellors offer client-centered services that provide strength-based individual education, assessment and counselling to youth and adults involved in the legal system. The primary focus for client service delivery would be supporting several of the Community Justice Programs.
As a Community Justice Counsellor, you will:
• Complete intakes, facilitate groups and meet with clients
• Be responsible for court coverage
• Assist in other Community Justice programs as needed and scheduled
• Respond to client needs by providing support counselling, information and by liaising with resources, support and referral sources.
Start date: as soon as possible
Qualifications
• Have a college diploma in a Human/Social Services field.
• Have a minimum 1-year combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals involved in the justice system.
• Have a knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
• Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases.
• Have access to reliable transportation.
• Be able to manage occasional exposure to vicarious traumatic stress.
• Flexibility to meet needs of clients and program delivery.
