What Employers Look for in Candidates at a Job Fair

When attending a job fair – whether in person or, more likely these days, virtually – it pays to do your homework. A little preparation can go a long way towards helping you make the right first impression on potential employers and maximize your chances of landing a job offer.

You know how it would be easier to ace an exam if you knew exactly what the questions were going to be in advance? You can similarly prepare for a job fair much more efficiently if you know just what the companies will be looking for in the candidates they meet. With that in mind, the team hear at St. Leonard's Community Services has put together an infographic of what employers want to see in job seekers.

  • Look professional.
  • Be upbeat, positive, and confident in your abilities.
  • For a virtual meeting, test your tech in advance!
  • Ask smart questions.
  • Learn as much as you can about the companies you will be meeting with.

Think of this as your crib notes for acing the virtual job fair. (And be sure that you sign up to meet with some of the many local employers participating in our virtual fair from October 19th – 21st.) See you there!
