Thank You to Everyone Who Helped Make Our Cornerstone Open House Such a Success!
The community really came together to support St. Leonard’s Community Services, our Annual Soup Challenge fundraiser, and the programs we offer to people in the community who may be experiencing homelessness or at risk of finding themselves without a safe place to stay.
Organizations, individuals, and small businesses all pitched in to spread the word of our open house at the Cornerstone House residence, and they provided us with food, décor, refreshments, and prizes.
Everyone came together for some barbecue, a tour of the renovated facility, and to see the premiere of the 17th Annual Soup Challenge video. You won’t believe what youth from our shelter program can do when you set them free to create in a commercial kitchen with donated ingredients. Our panel of top chefs were shocked. Watch the Soup Challenge below.
For this year's Soup Challenge, three young people from our Housing program – who have never cooked before – compete to create the prize-winning soup from donated ingredients in a commercial kitchen. Their creations are then tasted and judged by a panel of top local chefs. It gets spicy.
The whole team here at St. Leonard’s would like to send a huge heartfelt thank you to:
