Announcing Ride to Hire Donation Drive Connecting Employers and Job Seekers

BRANTFORD, ON - This spring, Mohawk College Public Relations Students have partnered with St. Leonard's Community Services Brant Employment Centre to connect job seekers with employers. Throughout this month, culminating with a live event on Monday March 29 at 9:00 a.m., the two entities ask the Brant community to come together with Ride to Hire, a donation drive for bus tickets to give those in need a lift in the right direction.

"Being unemployed can have a huge impact on an individual's overall wellbeing. When someone doesn't have reliable transportation or access to public transit, job searching, attending interviews, and work options become very limited," says Katy Grummett, Manager of Brant Employment Centre. "Access to basic transportation makes a big difference in how quickly someone can successfully secure work."

St. Leonard's Community Services offers various supports for the community, from Addiction & Mental Health, Employment to Housing and Justice. The Brant Employment Centre specifically helps connect an employer and members of our community. Bus tickets are essential for community members traveling to job interviews and their employment. Mohawk College students are completing this campaign as a part of course work for the Public Relations program.

Ride for Hire donation drive for bus tickets is on now. To donate, drop off bus passes at any St. Leonard's Community Services location listed below or donate online.

Learn more about the Employment services available and how donations will make a difference within the Brant community by attending the free live event on St. Leonard's Community Services Facebook page on March 29.
